The Day 12 fixtures of the 2025 CGC Volleyball Premier League in Abuja produced thrilling battles as Kada Kings grabbed their first win of the season, while Nigeria Customs Service handed Nigeria Correctional Service (CNS) only their second defeat of the campaign, opening the title race wide going into the final day of the first phase.

Kada Kings were clinical in their 3-0 straight sets win over Sunshine Spikers (25-18, 25-20, 25-22), ending their wait for a maiden victory of the season.

In the headline clash, Customs rallied from a set down to edge CNS 3-2 (19-25, 25-21, 25-21, 20-25, 21-19). The result cuts CNS’s dominance and gives NSCDC a realistic chance of emerging first-phase champions, should the leaders falter again on Thursday. NSCDC strengthened their title charge with a commanding 3-0 sweep over COAS Spikers (25-21, 25-21, 26-24), while Offa Volleyball Club picked up their sixth win after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Nigeria Air Force (29-27, 19-25, 25-21, 20-25, 15-13).

Nigeria Police Force also secured maximum points, edging Kano Pillars 3-2 in another pulsating five-set encounter (22-25, 25-15, 25-19, 22-25, 15-8). Correctional Service recorded a 3-1 win over UCEM (25-18, 25-17, 19-25, 25-23).

With one round left in the first phase, CNS hold a slender lead, but NSCDC and Customs have now leapfrogged COAS into strong contention for top positions.

In the women’s cadre, Customs maintained their perfect record with a 3-0 rout of Wikki Spikers (25-6, 25-15, 25-11). CNS also kept the pressure alive with a 3-0 victory over Nigeria Air Force (25-13, 25-15, 25-16), while NSCDC boosted their campaign with a straight-sets win over COAS Spikers (25-19, 25-11, 25-22).

Anambra Queens recorded their third win of the season with a 3-1 triumph against Benue Queens (25-19, 18-25, 25-18, 25-18), while Kada Emeralds cruised past Olalomi Spikers 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-21).

The women’s race remains finely poised as CNS target a late fightback to displace Customs at the summit, while NSCDC are equally determined to end the first phase in second spot ahead of CNS.

With the final day of the first stanza set for Thursday, the battle for top spots promises to be fierce in both the men’s and women’s categories.
