Fr. Eburuaja FC got to the final of the 2023 Imo FA Cup before losing 3-0 to Heartland FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
They went a place better when they beat PCM of Abakaliki 1-0 In the rookie round of the NFF Federation Cup through the goal of inspirational skipper, Mbadiwe Christian Nnamdi.
As they face Nigeria National League side, Green Berets of Kaduna in the Round of 64 on Thursday at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, Club’s Technical Adviser, Daniel Omeka has expressed his determination to give a good account of themselves in the game.
Omeka said despite having to play with limited number of players due to registration palaver he is confident Fr. Eburuaja FC will do the needful to progress to the Round of 32.
“We are grateful to God for all that he has done for us. We are in the Round of 64 and we believe we can even go all the way. We started the journey with that conviction,” Omeka, a former Heartland Queens coach, told SportingLife.
“It has not been easy for us. We have been playing the competition with just 15 players. We had issues administratively but we believe in God that he will crown our efforts. It has not been easy coping with slight injuries and a limited number of players.
” We want to be known and after the victory over PCM, we are ready for Green Berets. We just want to seek good officiating.”
