2021 JOS CHILLIN DAY ONE WRAP: Emmyjeks, Mees Palace, others cruise to easy wins in U-14; Solo Wonders, Horvel Prime, Naija Ratels turn heads in U-16

The foremost grassroots football tournament in Nigeria, Jos Chillin Invitational Tournament commenced in the beautiful city of Jos, Plateau State on Saturday with teams taking part in the Under 14 and 16 already starting at a fast pace and thrilling atmosphere.

The defending champions, Mees Palace Football Academy were held to a draw in the Under 16 but they got to a flying start in the Under 14.

Besides the performance of the hosts, Emmyjeks, Horvel Prime, Gangere Youths, FC Izam were among the teams that impressed on the first day of hostilities in either of the two categories.

UNDER 14 DAY ONE REVIEW:

Emmyjeks, Nachi FA, Highland Stars, Gangere Youths, ZAAR FA, and the hosts, Mees Palace Football Academy recorded opening day victories in the Under 14 category as the 2021 Jos Chillin Invitational Tournament began in Jos, Plateau State on Saturday.

Ali Sadiq’s hat-trick fueled Emmyjeks 3-1 victory over Jazzy Stars who had Destiny Eribo to thank for a consolatory goal while Auwal Yusuf’s brace powered Gangere Youths to a 3-1 win over Naija Ratels.

The hosts, Mees Palace also came out smoking in their opening fixture after a 4-0 thrashing of hapless Ceemonie SA.

A goal each from Ebuka Sunday, Israel Davou, Japheth Vincent, and Joseph Emmanuel guided the Blue Panthers to the easy win.

UNDER 16 DAY ONE REVIEW

In the Under 16 cadre, Horvel Prime easily thrashed Airport Young Stars 3-1 with Eneche Benjamin, Yahaya Abdullahi, and Ezike Kingsley on the score sheets for Prime while Abdullahi Haruna bagged a consolation goal for the defeated Young Stars.

Solo Wonders’ Oscar Celestine weighed in two goals to ensure that they outclassed Talent SA 3-0 in a one-sided Under 16 affair while Lions Heart’s first game since the celebrated new nomenclature from St. Monica’s Academy ended in a 1-1 draw against Athletic FC.

Meanwhile, the defending champions, Mees Palace Academy started their title defence with a draw after Mailantarki’s Nuruddin Hassan struck in the 50th minute to level an early Mees Palace’s goal through tested and trusted Ahmed Musa.

Naija Ratels needed Tersoo Peter’s stoppage time goal to scoop the three points at the expense of CCS while FC Izam pinned ZAAR FA by a lone goal, among other results.

The tournament continues today with mouthwatering fixtures already lined up.
