Nigeria U23 attacker, Stephen Odey has disclosed that the key to their impressive 5-0 win over Sudan in the return leg of the 2019 U23 AFCON qualifier in Asaba was because they took their chances at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Tuesday.

The game ended 1-0 deficit against Nigeria at the end of the first leg but Odey hinted that the result could have been different if they had taken the few chances they created in Omdurman.

The KRC Genk striker opined that he felt so happy to have been part of the team that helped Nigeria to the U23 AFCON competition and he implores all and sundry that the build-up to the Olympic Games qualifiers in Egypt must start almost immediately.

“I feel great and I am so happy for the qualification,” Odey told SportsTainment247.com.

“I wish the team the best of luck in Egypt. We were so unlucky in Sudan because we didn’t take our chances.

“I am relieved that we made use of our chances and capitalised on their errors to get our goals. 5-0 didn’t mean that the Sudanese are a bad side. We took possession of every chance that we had and utilised them.”
