EFCC and Setraco FC will continue their impressive performances in the ongoing Unity Preseason Tournament holding in Abuja as they trade tackles with two Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) sides, Lobi Stars and Nasarawa United respectively in the semi-finals slated for Friday afternoon.
In the first quarter-final match decided yesterday at the Area 3 football field, Setraco Fc overpowered Manahaim FC 3-2 to reach the semi-finals.
Bakam Sunday put Setraco in front with an early goal in the second minute but 12 minutes later, Paul Ogunkoya drew his side level with a fine finish.
However, before the break, Victor Peter restored Setraco’s lead in the 45th minute and doubled the lead with his brace in the 52nd minute before Yusuf Sadiq scored the second for Manahaim in the 62nd minute as the match ended 3-2.
Thus, Setraco will be punching above their weight in the semi-finals this afternoon when they confront last year’s runners-up, Nasarawa United who were 1-0 winners over City FC in the first quarter-final match decided on Wednesday.
In the other quarter-final match, Nigeria National League (NNL) side, EFCC arrested Family Worship Centre (FWC) 2-1 to reach the last-four.
EFCC drew the first blood through Peniel Daniel in the 10th minute but five minutes after, FWC were on level terms following Terry ThankGod’s equaliser.
On resumption, it was still a ding-dong affair but when it appeared as if the contest would be decided on penalties, Ayaya Uzochukwu popped up with the winning goal for EFCC in the 75th minute.
EFCC will now square up with Like-Minds conquerors, Lobi Stars in the second semi-final match beginning from 4pm.
The semi-final clash will no doubt be Lobi Stars’ first stern test in the tournament which started on Saturday, October 22nd.
