Wikki Tourists and FOSLA Academy yesterday recorded their first wins of the ongoing Unity Cup Preseason Tournament after they overpowered Capital City FC and Mavlon FC respectively.
Kabiru Adeniji opened scores for Wikki Tourist in the 34th minute when he fired a shot after a good build up from the defence from Taye Muritala who was credited with the assist.
Head coach Kabiru Dogo’s charge for his boys to go in search of more goals paid off when Anas Yusuf scored the second goal in the 81st minutes through a clinical finish after sneaking through the defence of the Capital City before slotting the ball beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.
Three minutes later Anas came banging again and scored his second of the game and Wikki’s third.
A visibly excited Dogo challenged his lads to do better in the remaining games and he revealed that the games at the pre-season tourney would help his team prepare adequately for the new season.
In another game played, FOSLA Academy pipped Mavlon 1-0 through the goal of Abdullahi Abdulsalam while SimoIben came from a goal down to beat WACO FC 2-1.
Hassan Abdullahi put WACO FC in the lead but Sadiq Abdullahi and Brooks Emmanuel netted one each in the second half to ensure the team owned by Nantes FC winger, Moses Simon earned maximum points from two games.
Even though today ought to be a rest day, Katsina United will face NYSC in a rescheduled game that ought to have taken place on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Sokoto United will trade tackles with Plateau United. Plateau United defeated WACO FC 1-0 in their first game while Sokoto United tripped 3-1 to Moses Simon owned SimoIben.
