The Founder/Chairman of Hon. Tony Nweze Nwora Foundation has hailed the Golden Eaglets qualification for the next year’s Under 17 Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) holding in Algeria.
The Golden Eaglets beat the Young Elephants of Cote’d Ivoire 3-1 in the first Semi-finals of the CAF West B U17 Qualification Tournament in Cape Coast, Ghana on Tuesday.
The Nigerians overcame a first minute deficit from the penalty spot to overpower the defending champions with three brilliant goals, two of them from expertly taken free kicks by the outstanding Emmanuel Michael.
The victory, apart from securing Nigeria’s place in the West B U17 final, also confirmed the Golden Eaglets’ place in Algeria next year at the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nation.
Speaking to newsmen from his Abuja home Tuesday evening, the US based young philanthropist urged the boys to remain focused and avoid any form of distractions as the tasks ahead are way far bigger than what they have overcome.
He advised them to emulate the Flying Eagles who won the U-20 Qualification Tournament in Niamey, Niger Republic last month.
“I congratulate you for qualifying from the zone for the AFCON in Algeria next year. You boys have again proven that we are indeed a force to be reckoned with,” Nwora disclosed.
“However you all must know that the task ahead is more demanding, we want the FIFA U17 World Cup and you can’t get there without qualifying from the continent first. I salute and commend your coaches, officials and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for providing all the necessities for this success.
“As I expect the entire team to remain focused and finish this assignment without losing any game just like the Flying Eagles did in Niger last month, go and win the final. I know you can do it.
“Be rest assured that the entire people of Onitsha North constituency of Anambra State and the entire country are solidly behind you. You have nothing to be afraid of. You are great Nigerian ambassadors already and we will be waiting to receive you with the trophy after the Final,” Nwora added.
Hon. Tony Nwora is also the President of Jordan Nwora Foundation organizers of the Jordan Nwora Elite Basketball Camps which 2nd edition will start in Buffalo New York on the 5th of July, 2022.
After the 5 days camp in the United State, the Camps will then arrive Africa with first stop in Abidjan for 3 days before moving to Cotonou, Benin Republic for another 3 days.
