Teams ready as SWAN Henry Kalio Cup stages a return on Thursday

After four years hiatus, the eagerly expected abridged SWAN Henry Kalio Cup stages a comeback this year end with four teams competing for honours in the City of Port Harcourt on Thursday 22nd December 2022 at the Sharks Stadium.

In a statement signed by Favour Itua, Publicity Secretary, Rivers SWAN, ‘after three months in camp and five friendlies with three victories and two losses, media outlets along East West Road (CoolWazobiaInfo and Today FM) are looking to go all out for the coveted championship’.

Veteran goalkeeper Peter Abaje has been speaking in the camp of the NTA/Ozouba Media team as a clip of their training was aired earlier on Monday, even though he thinks his squad has what it takes to win the championship.

Elsewhere, Wave FM are hoping to pull an upset and believes their young squad will be key in getting the needed results against CoolWazobiaInfo/Today FM.

The one-day event, according to Sarah Atonye Davids, Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria’s (SWAN) Rivers State Chapter, will be utilized to promote members unity and pay tribute to the organization’s late former chairman Henry Kalio.

Meanwhile, Ekpor Temple, chairman of the planning committee, has assured that this will be the best of its kind.

NTA/Ozouba Media Houses and Ikwerre/Aba Road Media Houses will square off in the first semi-final match, while Wave FM and CoolWazobiaInfo/Today FM will lock horns for the second cracker the same day at 10 a.m.

The statement also states that that respected dignitaries and sporting legends from Rivers State and beyond will undoubtedly attend this august event. The final is scheduled for 4 p.m.
