Heartland Queens will slug it with Awka Angels in the semi final of the ongoing South East Women’s Football Association Tournament while First Mahi Babes of Abajah will lock horns with Imo Strikers Queens in the other semi final tie

Heartland Queens FC of Owerri on Monday defeated their sister club, First Mahi Babes of Abajah 1-0 in the group’s leadership decider in the played at the Old Township Stadium, Tetlow, Owerri to end the group stage as winners even with a game at hand.

Chinedu Gift’s second minute goal was the only goal needed to separate the two sides as the Abajah side refused to yield to pressure from the Onwa Babes for the rest of the game.

The Onwa Babes did so with a game at hand ahead of their last group game with Immaculate Queens today, Tuesday.

While Heartland Queens will gear up to battle Awka Angels in the Semi Finals, First Mahi Babes will slug it out with Imo Strikers Queen in another pulsating Imo Derby encounter.

Harmony Chidi of Imo Strikers Queens is atop the goals scorer chart with seven goals.

The competition organised by South East Women’s Football Association is aimed at fostering friendship and healthy competition among clubs in the South East just like it is in the South West and South South. It is also to help women’s football grow in the zone.
