Heartland Queens of Owerri thrashed Awka Angels of Anambra 3-0 while Imo Strikers Queens whipped First Mahi Babes 6-0 as the semi final games of the South East Women’s Football Association Tournament were played on Wednesday at the Old Stadium, Tetlow, Owerri.
Both clubs victories in the last four have now set up highly anticipated clash in the final of the tournament billed for Thursday at the same venue.
Mary Lucky opened the avalanche of goals in the 12th minute for Heartland Queens while the game’s Player of the Match, Chimebere Opara weighed in two goals in the 44th minute and just before the regulation period. Opara’s two goals put the result of the game in doubt.
At the sound of the final whistle Heartland Queens cruised into the final clash with a convincing 3-0 win over Awka Angels.
With the win Heartland Queens will now gear up for the final action when they lock horns with Imo strikers Queen in what we can define as an epic Imo derby final clash on Thursday.
Meanwhile, in the second semi final tie, Imo strikers Queens easily devoured First Mahi Babes of Abajah 6-0 to set up the final battle with Heartland Queens with Harmony Chidi among the goals scorers.
