Caykur Rizespor’s new acquisition, Ibrahim Olawoyin is optimistic his new First Lig club have what it takes to secure promotion to the Super Lig at the end of the season.
Olawoyin who left Ankara Keciorengucu before the start of the second stanza of the season told journalists that he joined the club from another promotion chasing team because he is convinced they can clinch a ticket to the elite division.
“I’m really happy to be here. During the transfer it was not easy because there were ups and downs which are normal in football transfers and life generally,” Olawoyin disclosed.
“I’m happy it finally came to past and I’m thrilled to be here. The objective is for Rizespor to gain promotion to the Super Lig and Im here with that motive as well. I believe together with the calibre of players we have here and the coach, we can do it together.
“There is no easy game in football all games are tough including against teams in the lower division. It is about 90 minutes.
“I have the believe that we can gain promotion to the Super Lig because it is the aim of the team. We are targeting either a top two finish or a slot in the playoffs.”
Olawoyin and Rizespor would face Denizlispor in his first home game for his new club on Monday night as they seek to improve on their current seventh spot with 31 points from 19 games.
The former Super Eagles B winger was a late inclusion in Rizespor 2-1 loss to Fenerbahce in the Turkish Cup on Thursday. He was introduced in the 89th minute while his Nigeria’s compatriot, Okechukwu Azubuike was brought on in the 79th minute.
