.Tornadoes pip Remo Stars
Plateau United extended their unbeaten streak to 10 games after they managed to grab a priceless 1-1 draw against Enyimba in Aba yesterday in one of the NPFL Matchday 18 games.
The Peace Boys who came into the tie at the back of eight wins and a draw were on the back foot in the 28th minute when Victor Mbaoma struck for Enyimba but Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men fought back gamely and equalised in thee 71st minute Austin Opara who roared from the defence to score the leveller. It was how the game ended.
With the draw Plateau United have now garnered 38 points from 18 games to remain in second place behind Rivers United who also have 38 points but have played a game lesser.
But for Enyimba they have now drawn three home games out of their last four at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba. They are eighth on the table with 25 points from 18 games. They are likely to slide more by the time the weekend games are concluded tonight.
In the second game played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, Niger Tornadoes pipped Remo Stars 1-0 through Musa Wakili’s goal to inflict the fourth defeat of the season on Gbenga Ogunbote tutored Sky Blue Stars.
It was a good welcome victory for Ikon Allah Boys who played their first game at their new home ground. They are now 14th on the table with 20 points from 18 games but Remo Stars are still third with 29 points from 18 matches.
