.Eyes final ticket against Heartland Comets
The Chairman of Kun Khalifat, Michael Chukwudi Amaefule has expressed his excitement at his team’s qualification for the semi-final of the Owerri Zone Bet9ja Super Club Cup Challenge.
Kun Khalifat came second in Group B behind Campos FC with four points from three games after they played a 2-2 draw with Grace of God on Friday evening.
Amaefule who was physically present to cheer his team to the next round of the competition told dasportstainment247.com that he knew his boys would pick the needed point that would take them to the semi-final opined that he is expecting another win against Heartland Comets just like it was during the NLO playoffs in Port Harcourt.
“I feel very excited and I am proud of my boys. I knew they would qualify even though they played against a tough opponent. We expected the victory because I know my team very well,” Amaefule, also known as Khalifat told dasportstainment247.com.
“We are hoping to beat Heartland Comets in the semi final so that we can qualify for the final. We beat them 4-1 during the NLO playoffs in Port Harcourt and we going in search of another history in the next game with them.”
Kun Khalifat defeated Heartland Comets 4-1 in Port Harcourt and picked the sole NLO playoffs ticket from the centre before losing in the final to another Owerri based Campos FC 2-1.
But Amaefule disclosed that he was not deterred by his club’s failed move to qualify for the NNL and he asserts that Kun Khalifat will go in the hunt for the ticket again this year.
The young football administrator also said that ensuring that young footballers have the adequate platform to showcase their talents remains his motivation and that he won’t stop until he sees young ones doing something profitable with their talents.
“I can never be deterred. In destiny you chase more than twice and I believe in myself that God that brought me to this stage will give me what I want.
“I want to play in the NLO, NNL and also see Kun Khalifat in the Premier League. That is the vision. The motivation is to take off all these young boys away fromm the streets. The most important thing for me is to give them a platform to showcase their talents.”
Amaefule also hinted that plans are at advance stage to have some players leave for Spain for trials with Malaga next month.
“Nigerian league is not really the plan. By God’s grace from March, some of my players will be going to Spain to have trials with Malaga to be precise.”
