Obinze Community celebrates Ambassador Ogbonna in special reception/ Thanksgiving

It was indeed a carnival like atmosphere and a gathering of who is who from Obinze community as well as friends and those who have enjoyed goodwill from a man whom many described as an epitome of humility and selfless leader in the person of Hon Prince (Sir) Eleazar Onyewuchi Ogbonna “Ambassador”.

The reception which commenced with a Thanksgiving service at St. Micheal’s Anglican Church Obinze Ambassador Ogbonna expressed his unreserved gratitude to God over his endeavours and achievements.

After offering special thanks to Almighty God, Ambassador and his lovely Wife, Lady Grace Ugochu Ogbonna and his Family led his friends a team of Imo state political appointees to the reception ground at Obinze Central Pitch, where thousands of Obinze indigenes alongside men and women from all walks of life from in and around Imo state trooped out to welcome one of their illustrious son.

In his address at the occasion, Ambassador Eleazar Ogbonna described the event as a show of love by his people.

Ambassador further illustrated his undying desire to continue to give back to the society as he pledged to use his position and affluence to impact positively on his people by immediately commencing upgrade work on the football pitch of Obinze central school.

Ealier In a message, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Imo State, Dist Sen Hope Uzodinma, represented by the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon Obinna Evarestus Onyeocha “Onowu” reaffirmed his trust on the ability of Ambassador Ogbonna while promising to remain supportive on any developmental stride embarked by the celebrant in his community.

On his part, the chairman of the organising Committee, Dr. Martin Uzoegwu explained that the reception was to celebrate one of their own who had impacted positively on the lives of youths, widows, the poor, the vulnerable and the aged in their community.

Dr Uzoegwu thanked Governor Uzodinma for his trust on their brother, Ambassador Ogbonna through his reappointment as the chairman Imo state sports Commission.

In their separate speeches, His elder brother, Ezinna Innocent Ogbonna, Hon Prince Henry Okafor, a Commissioner designate in the Shared Prosperity administration, Hon Ernest Ibejiako of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Solid Minerals, Hon Pastor Nwankwo Victor, SOLAD Owerri West LGA, Hon Frank Onyeacho of the Owerri Capital Development Authority OCDA, Hon George Alua, Chairman of the Nigerian National League NNL, Ex-Int’l Coach Emmanuel Amuneke, Mr Isaac Mbika, President of Ex-Iwuanyanwu Nat’l Players Association World Wide all affirmed the humble life style of Ambassador Ogbonna whom they said has been a worthy brother and good friend.

Hon Ibejiako and Hon Frank among others assured of their support to the project of upgrading and regrassing of the Obinze Central pitch just as Mr Isaac Mbika promised the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000).

The reception Thanksgiving was well attended by senior political appointees of the 3R administration and former Nigerian football internationals as well as royal father’s from Owerri West council area of the state, HRH Eze G I, “Anunu 1 of Umuanunh” and HRH Eze A C Enyinnaya, “Nzeukwu 1 of Obinze”
