Heartland FC gaffer, Christian Obi is still very optimistic that the Naze Millionaires can still work their ways out of the relegation zone and retain their topflight status at the end of the current season.
The Naze Millionaires beat in-form Shooting Stars 1-0 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri in their return game to the iconic pitch since the start of the second stanza and Obi who dedicated the win to the club’s fans whose constructive criticisms have brought out the best said all hands are on deck to ensure the club does not go down.
The tactician further stressed that the club would go in the hunt for the maximum points against Bendel Insurance this weekend in Benin City as they strive to close the gap on other teams before them on the league table.
“It is only God that has the final say no human does. The club that is presently at the top of the table can’t beat their chest that they would win the league title and nobody can say these are the clubs that have been relegated yet. We have seven games to go and anything can still happen. Heartland FC will not go on relegation,” Obi went philosophical shortly after the team’s home win over Shooting Stars.
“I am excited and I want to dedicate this victory to all Heartland FC fans. They are the reason why I am here. If they didn’t push me I will not do what I am doing. Because of their constructive criticism that is why I am pushing myself to the extreme.”
Obi further thumbed up the performance of his players in the game adding that they got exhausted towards the end of the home game with Shooting Stars because of the amount of energies they dissipated to ensure they keep the scoreline intact until the end of the game.
“It is humans that are playing the game of football and are bound to get tired at some point. They gave their all in the first half but in the second half they tried their best too. It is left for the technical crew to inject more force and it was the reason we brought in the players that came on to help the team so that the tempo would be sustained,” he further disclosed.
