The top three contenders in each group are starting to pull away as we head into a very congested Matchday 10 in the NWFL Premiership 2022.
All eyes would be in Asaba, Lokoja, Abuja and Ijebu Ode as teams continue to battle for places in the prestigious NWFL Premiership Super 6 Championship.
Things will get underway with Bayelsa Queens visiting Delta Queens in Asaba in what promises to be a hotly contested game. In Ijebu-Ode, FC Robo Queens will host Defending Champions, Rivers Angels in another thrilling encounter. Naija Ratels, who have maintained a solid start to the season, will face a strong side, Edo Queens at the Area 10 Sports Complex, Abuja with the hope of returning to winning ways, while Confluence Queens will welcome Osun Babes in Lokoja.
Nasarawa Amazons Vs Pelican Stars | #NASPEL | Lafia City, Lafia.
Nasarawa Amazons are currently second in Group A and would be playing against Pelican Stars, who are bottom in the group. The ‘Solid Babes’ have metamorphosed into a high scoring side this season, netting at least two goals in all their home games so far. In the reverse fixture, Pelican Stars lost 3-0 to Nasarawa Amazons in Lafia, with goals from Dooshima Tarnum, Hembafen Ayatsea and Aweda Titilayo. With the ‘Ayade’ Ladies facing relegation, they are under compulsion to put in their best to get a positive result in Lafia.
FC Robo Queens Vs Rivers Angels | #ROBRIV |Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode.
FC Robo Queens are six points behind current table toppers Rivers Angels and will look to close the gap when they both clash on today at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, the adopted home of the Lagos Landladies’.
A positive result for FC Robo Queens will keep them on tab for Super 6 Qualification as they may return to the top three if results from other centres go their way. It will be a top battle for the top three with Bayelsa Queens and Delta Queens also seeking tickets for the Super 6.
Rivers Angels are in a great form and will put in their best to get a good result away to FC Robo Queens who have been erratic this season. The league’s reigning champs are a formidable side with players like Maryann Ezeanagu, Brume Ikhekua Brigitte Omboudou, Vivian Ikechukwu and many others, while FC Robo Queens will be relying on the likes of Shukurat Oladipupo, Rukayat Shobowale, Folashade Ijamilusi, Monday Gift and others.
Naija Ratels Vs Edo Queens| #NAIEDO | Area 10 Sports Complex, Abuja.
Bankole Olowookere’s side will face a huge task, when Edo Queens visit them at the Area 10 Sports Complex, Abuja on Wednesday evening. ‘The One Day At A Time’ Ladies debut season at the topflight has been positive thus far, with three away draws and three home wins out of eight games played so far. They are one of the highest scoring sides in the league and will give their all when they face Edo Queens on Wednesday at their home ground.
Edo Queens will look to maintain their unbeaten start to this season’s NWFL Premiership. They are presently the only team that is yet to taste defeat and playing against a solid and young Naija Ratels team could even be more difficult for them.
Adaobi Okah, Ihuoma Goodness Yemisi Samuel, Suliat Abideen and others must come to the party if the Obaseki Ladies are to maintain their unbeaten streak, while Olamide Adugbe, Paulina Ali, Agama Ziperekefhege, Oluwafehinti Ojo, Motunrayo Ezekiel and others must work harder to prevent a second home loss.
Royal Queens Vs Abia Angels | #ROYABI | Warri Township Stadium, Warri.
A major mid season transfer spending spree is beginning to reap dividends in terms of results for Abia Angels , as they got their first win of the season when they faced FC Robo Queens in Umuahia last week. That three points have helped to jerk them up two places to the fifth spot.
They will face Royal Queens, who have also won only once this season and seats just three points below their opponents at the bottom of Group B.
Ann Chiejine side looks more determined to pick points in Warri, but Royal Queens are a side that can spring out surprises on their good day.
Delta Queens Vs Bayelsa Queens | #DELBAY | Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
Delta Queens have lost only one game this season and would welcome Heavyweight, Bayelsa Queens today at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
In the first leg of this game at the Nembe Township Stadium, Nembe, Delta Queens scooped a point and left their South-south neighbour hanging.
There is only one point between these two teams, and that would even make the game more intended. Bayelsa Queens are second on the log with 14 points, while Delta Queens are 3rd on the log with 13 points, same as FC Robo Queens who are a place below.
Confluence Queens Vs Osun Babes | #CONOSU | Lokoja Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
A positive result for Confluence Queens will see them hold on to their Super 6 ambition, while for Osun Babes, a positive result, means they will stay stronger in their push to avoid the relegation battle.
Liadi Bashiru was at the Osun Babes dug-out for seven years and knows them very well, and knowing that a home win will be pivotal to their Super 6 ticket, Confluence Queens will no doubt like to go all out. He got all three points in the first tie at the Lanreleke Stadium, Ile-Ogbo, Osun state but can he muster a double over his former side?
Osun Babes Coach, Olayinka Adunola and her ladies will hope to put their all to get something out of the game in Lokoja. Osun Babes have a good history in Lokoja, but only time will tell.
