NWFL Nationwide: Dannaz, Oasis Ladies, two others gain promotion from Ijebu Ode; Crystal Stars top Abuja centre

Three Nationwide clubs from the Lagos State Football Association headed by Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, Dannaz Ladies, Oasis Ladies, Royaltoms International FC, and Moje Queens (Kwara State) have gained promotion to the women’s pro-league cadre, the NWFL Championship, after a brilliant performance at the 2021 NWFL Nationwide League played at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.

The three Lagos teams; Dannaz Ladies FC on nine points, Oasis Ladies FC also on 9 points and Royaltoms Queens on six points, all booked their tickets to promotion before the last scheduled games for Saturday, April 17. Moje Queens of Erin Ile (Kwara State) also with 7 points have also scaled through to the NWFL Championship even with a game to spare.

On Friday, Royaltoms lost 3-0 to Dannaz Ladies, and Oasis Ladies defeated Omidiran 3-2 while Moje Queens were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Phoenix.

In Saturday’s fixtures which are mere formalities for teams to gain promotion and a big deal for teams’ final placements, League leaders, Dannaz Ladies on nine points will play against another Lagos team FC Phoenix on two points, while Omidiran Babes on one point, will battle against Royaltoms on six points, in a game the Oshogbo team wants to win for sake of pride. The last game of the day would see Oasis Ladies who are second on the log with 9 points slug it out against already promoted Moje Queens of Kwara that are on seven points.

At the start of the NWFL Nationwide League 2021 at the Ijebu Ode centre, a total of 12 teams started the challenge, with six eliminated in the knock-out stage.

At the Abuja Centre, Beautiful Tours Angels were thrashed 4-1 by Honey Badgers on Friday. Beautiful Tours have dropped to the third position with four points from three games while Badgers moved to the second position with four points.

Crystal Stars pipped 9ineteen Damsels 2-1 in an entertaining game in which all the three goals scored in the opening 13 minutes. Agama Zipreye continued her rich form in front of goal with another goal for Crystal Stars in the second minute. Adim Ogo increased the tally for the Stars in the fourth minute but 9ineteen Damsels halved the deficit in the 13th minute. Crystal Stars jumped to the top of Abuja centre with five points from three games while 9ineteen Damsels are at the bottom with three points.
