Crystal Stars Football Club of Bayelsa opened the first day of the 2021/2022 NWFL Championship with the biggest win of the day outwitting Beautiful Tours FC of Abuja, 5-2.
Crystal Stars had the best result of the opening day with three points and +3 goals difference.
Ibom Angels, Heartland Queens of Owerri, Kwara Ladies, Oasis Ladies all recorded clear victories in their first games. Ibom Angels defeated fellow relegated Premiership team, Dream Stars Ladies of Lagos 2-0 with Ijeoma Onweagba scoring the two goals for Ibom in the 8th and 56th minutes.
Heartland Queens of Owerri joined the bandwagon of the progressive teams, when they recorded a 2-1 win against Dannaz Queens of Lagos in a pulsating game. Heartland heroin of the day, was Mary Lucky who scored in the 21st and 29th minutes, before Dannaz Queens’ Zainab Raji reduced
the score line in the 69th minute, to leave scores at 2-1.
Kwara Ladies defeated Moje Queens 1-0 in a local derby, with Kwara’s Victoria Idehen’s goal separated the women from the girls to give them three full points.
Royaltoms International Football Club of Lagos, failed to join the victorious bandwagon, as they lost 1-2 against fellow Lagos team, Oasis Ladies. Oasis two goals came from the boots of Lilian Ofonime in the 41st and Dolapo Ariori in the 50th. Ngozi Ukwuoma reduced the tally for Royaltoms in the 62nd.
The battle for promotion into the NWFL Premiership league continue tomorrow at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.
