NPFL: Rivers United versus Enyimba tie gets a new date


Rivers United versus Enyimba rearranged fixture which has suffered more than two postponements due to the People’s Elephant’s CAF inter-club engagements has now been scheduled to hold on Wednesday, April 21st, 2021.

Enyimba will also face Enugu Rangers in an Oriental derby on Wednesday, April 8th before their trip to Constantine, Algeria to honour the reverse fixture of the CAF Confederation Cup Group A tie with Entente Setif Sportive Club slated for this weekend.

Rivers United will hope to return to winning ways having lost their last two away matches. They conceded four goals in both games with Lobi Stars in Makurdi (4-1) and in Uyo against Dakkada which ended in a 4-2 result.

Rivers United are seventh on the league table with 29 points from 18 games whereas Enyimba are fifth despite having four games at hand. They have 30 points from 15 matches.

“We have received confirmation that our Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday 11 Fixture against Enyimba FC has been rearranged,” Rivers United disclosed in an official press release.

It will be a repeat of the CAF Confederation Cup playoffs round which Rivers United won by a lone goal at the same Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt but Enyimba progressed to the group stage after winning a tension-filled penalty kick with the results of both ties ending 1-1 on. Aggregate.
