Five time Champions Heartland FC of Owerri has appreciated Imo’s Number 1 citizen Sen Hope Uzodinma for his massive support and Motivation towards the Naze millionaires.
Recall that Heartland went down the ladder to the second tier of Nigerian Football (NNL) last year in controversial circumstances.
Determined to change the narrative, the Governor brought on board a new Commissioner of Sport in the person of Hon Emeka Okoronkwo to salvage Sports in Imo.
The symbiotic relationship between the Deputy Speaker, Commissioner of Sports , Heartland Management,Imo FA and the Sports Commission was the first of it’s kind.
An atmosphere of conviviality and comradeship fostered by Hon Emeka Okoronkwo built bridges and made for collaborative effort in pulling Heartland away from relegation.
Inspired by Governor Uzodinma through the Commissioner for Sports and the Deputy Speaker Heartland conquered her foes in group B4 Unscathed Unhurt and Unbeaten in ten games to qualify for the NNL Super 8 Competition.
Again Governor Uzodinma came through for the team as they left for Asaba for the final battle. The Naze millionaires despite a shaky start in her first game where she drew with Abeokuta Stormers, rose to the challenge in the remaining games beating FC One Rocket and Sporting Lagos to qualify for the Elite division.
Heartland also came tops in the southern conference,which means she will be battling with Kano Pillars for the best team in the NNL come tomorrow Friday July 7th 2023.
