Enyimba and Akwa United will be at daggers drawn at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba in the top of the bill clash of the 2019-20 Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday Three fixtures.
Since 2017, this tie has produced only a draw from five matches with both teams picking two wins each at their respective homes but the Promise Keepers managed to claw a point off the People’s Elephant at their adopted home in Calabar last year in a goalless draw in the only draw from as many games.
Enyimba secured their first win of the season on Thursday in a rescheduled league tie which they won 3-1 against Nasarawa United but Akwa United are wounded already having only picked two points from the two games that they have played this season against Warri Wolves (away) and Abia Warriors (home).
There will be a lot at stake in the game with a win for Enyimba likely to take them to the top two or even top depending on the result of the top of the table clash in Jos between Plateau United and Wikki Tourist. They are currently third on the league log with four points from two matches.
Mfon Udoh will be playing first time in a competitive fixture against his former team, Enyimba and he has already promised he would celebrate his goal while the People’s Elephant’s Cyril Olisema will also be up against Akwa United where he spent over three seasons after he left Ikorodu United.
