NNL Super 8 Playoff: Mailantarki Care Football Academy Chairman hails organisers

The Chairman of Mailantarki Care Football Academy, Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki, has thumbed up the efforts of the organizers of the Nigeria National League for ensuring that equity and fairness prevailed, during the Super Eight Playoff tournament that has produced the teams that will play in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) next season.

Ahmed Mailantarki who also doubles as the vice chairman of the NNL, who spoke to newsmen in Enugu, said the Super 8 playoff tournament has lived up to its billing and that he expects a competitive final on Thursday as Beyond Limits face Nasarawa United in the final to determine the NNL Champions for the 2023-24 Season.

“I sincerely want to praise the efforts of the NNL executive members who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the tournament was held despite the challenges that they faced. I am also an executive member of the NNL, so I know how challenging it’s been trying to organize this tournament, but today, we have not only organized it, but have set a record as well, as I can also assure you that the current NNL executive will continue to improve on the standards of the game,” Mailantarki told journalists.

Mailantarki, a sport enthusiast, and a former Member of the House of Representatives representing Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye constituencies of Gombe state, made history in 2011, after emerging as the only legislator from the North-East with the highest Number of votes, while also serving as deputy chairman house committee on FCT area council and member of several other committees such as petroleum upstream, internal security, house services, human right, climate changes and global warming, and solid minerals salt.

He is the also the founder of Mailantarki Football Care Academy, which have transferred lots of young and talented Nigerian players to various european clubs, to continue their careers in football.

He said, the Football Academy was founded in the year 2021, as they started with a small scale that has now seen them playing league football.

The Gombe state football administrator, also revealed that his love for the round leather game, has seen him on the verge of completing a world class sports complex in Abuja, that will have all the necessary features and equipments for sports development.

He highlighted some of the success stories of the club since its inception to also include taking his players for European Tours in both Denmark Dana and Norway Cups in 2022 and was the first club to win both tournaments

The club will also take part in the 2024 versions of both Dana and Norway cups

Meanwhile, Nasarawa United Fc and El-Kanemi Warriors Fc got promoted to the NPFL from the Northern conference, while Ikorodu City FC and Beyond Limits Fc got their promotion tickets from the southern conference.
