Delta Force FC bounced back from their last home defeat to Shooting Stars to resoundingly dispatch Osun United at the J J Okocha stadium in Ogwasi-Uku in Matchday 9 of the Nigerian National League.
Goals from top striker Emmanuel Ihezuo and attacking sensation Joel Ajibola did the job for the Delta Ambassadors.
Sunday Okoh’s boys came into the match knowing that anything short of 3 points is just that a footballing capital sin. With that mindset, the lads imposed themselves early on against their more in form guests. The first 30 minutes was a little bit cagy with the Ogwasi-Uku landlords controlling the tempo without much goal mouth action.
But they did get their reward with 5 minutes to go in the first half. Captain fantastic, Tosin Adegbite was alert to play a quick free kick to ever switched on Emmanuel who caught Osun United defence flat footed to score his second goal of the season. 4 minutes later, it was two via a sumptuous team move finished effectively by Ajibola. Azeez started the move as he played in Emmanuel who returned the pass to Bala, who then gave the pass back to Emmanuel, the goal scorer then turned provider as he played in the ever energetic Ajibola to score his first goal of the season. 2-0 it was at half time.
Nothing much to report in the second half. As both teams were restricted to speculative shots from distance. And on two occasions, Ani Ozoemena did well to gather Canon shots of balls travelling towards his goal to make sure that the score line remain the same, bringing back feel good factor in the team.
Up next for Delta Force is another home game against Nilayo FC.
Coach’s reaction
