NLO Division One: Ikukuoma FC, Kun Khalifat others seek top spot

Ikukuoma FC defeated Kun Khalifat FC 2-0 yesterday at the OISA Stadium, Ngor Okpala, Imo State in the ongoing New Year Mega Lottery Nationwide League One.

The win lifted the Mbaise Blues side to top of the table with 14 points from seven games ahead of the end of the regular season today at the centre while Kun Khalifat FC the hitherto leaders, dropped to the second spot with 13 points from the same number of games.

It was a rescheduled Matchday Six tie that should have been played last week had to be shifted because Ikukuoma FC were involved in the President Federation Cup Round of 64 tie against Rivers United around the same period.

The game ended goalless at half time but Ikukuoma FC scored two late goals through Chigozie Dinnaya and Ibe George in the 82nd and 96th minutes with Samuel Chiedozie accounting for the two assists.

Today, the concluding Matchday 9 will see the top four contenders for the top spot facing each other. Ikukuoma FC who are top of the table with 14 points will face Heartland Feeders FC who are fourth with 11 points.

Campos FC with 11 points also but in third spot will square up with Kun Khalifat FC who are in second spot with 13 points while First Mahi FC will be eager to get their first win of the league season when they slug it out with Peace FC. A win for Prince Chidiebere Eze side will see them leave bottom spot.

In the remaining fixture, St. Nwadinso FA (Anambra) are up against A & A FC of Anambra.
