The President of the Nigeria Professional Footballers Wives Association ( NPFWA ) Mrs Ichul Lordson, has called on all football lovers in the county to be proud of the Nigeria Super Eagles despite early ouster from the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON in Cameroon.

The Super Eagles who were tipped by many as favourite to win the AFCON following their impressive performance in the group stages winning all three matches to finish top of Group D with 9 points surprisingly lost to Tunisa who qualifed as best loser from the group stage, leaving millions of Nigerians heartbroken.

The shocking exit from the tournament has generated several arguments and different opinions from Nigerians with many calling out individuals as culprits.

However, NPFWA President enjoyed Nigerians to see positives in the performance of the team led by Austine Eguaevon, noting that in football, sometimes the best team do have bad day in office.

“The performance of the Super Eagles is something to celebrate with many improvement compared to their previous outings.

“I understand the pain of many Nigerians because the performance of the team in the group stage raised our hope but then football is not predictable,” She said.

“Going forward, its better for everyone to show support to the team and see beyond the defeat suffered to Tunisia, there is an important match coming up against Ghana in the FIFA World Cup qualifier, the team must not be distracted and need our support and prayers.

“All of us at NPFWA are proud of the team, and we will continue to show supports to our dear Super Eagles.”
