Goddosky International FC of Nnewi hammered favourites, Rangers Feeders 5-0 in one of the shocking results of the Matchday Two of the NLO Division One playoff taking place at the Onwubiko International Soccer Academy and Stadium at Ngor Okpala on Thursday.
Goddosky had lost 3-2 to Enyimba Feeders on Tuesday in their opening game but they staged a grand comeback with the thrashing of the Feeders team of seven times league champions in a frenetic encounter that opened hostilities at Ngor Okpala on Thursday.
Shedrack Charles continued with his impressive form in the competition with a first-half hat-trick scored in the 11th, 20th, and 33rd minutes to record his fourth goal of the NLO Division One playoff from two games while Emmanuel Ibiama and Kelvin Pyagbara added gloss to the result with the fourth and fifth goal in the 66th and 78th minutes to make it an emphatic finish.
Goddosky by the big win have moved to the third position on the log with three points from two games and will no doubt go for the broke when they slug it out with neighbours, Udala FC on Saturday in the third game.
But Rangers Feeders must return to the drawing board and strive for a victory against Lamray United FC also on Saturday if they do not want to suffer early elimination after only three games. They are last in the zone with no points from two games.
*Lamray United FC 0-0 Adoration FC.
Before the game between Lamray United FC of Enugu and Adoration FC Enugu, all the previous four games have recorded goals but both teams battled to the first goalless draw of the playoffs holding at Ngor Okpala.
Lamray United FC had drawn their first game 2-2 to Udala FC of Anambra and needed maximum points to brighten their chances of claiming the sole ticket in the zone while Adoration FC also desired the three points to consolidate on their 3-1 opening day win over Rangers Feeders.
Both teams struggled to produce any cutting edge and had to settle for the first goalless draw of the Ngor Okpala zone. It was the second game that ended in a draw in the zone with Lamray FC’s 2-2 draw with Udala FC being the other tie. Despite the draw, Adoration FC maintained their first position in the zone with four points from two games while Lamray United FC though unbeaten after two matches, are in the fifth position with two points.
On Saturday at Ngor Okpala, Adoration FC’s determination to maintain the leadership of the zone will be stretched by Enyimba Feeders who will be eager to return winning ways after their stumble to Udala FC. While Lamray United FC on the other hand must beat hapless Rangers Feeders who had already lost their opening two games, also on Saturday if they are to remain in contention for the zone’s sole ticket.
*Enyimba Feeders 1-2 Udala FC.
Emmanuel Godwin 66’||
Onyedika Onuorah 27( p), Chinonso Lucky Ndumanya 41′
Udala FC of Uke, Anambra State earned the first victory of the playoffs in a tough second game against Enyimba Feeders at the Onwubiko International Soccer Academy and Stadium (OISA), Ngor Okpala on Thursday.
It was a game of two halves with Udala FC making good use of the few chances they created to go into the halftime two goals up courtesy of strikes from Onyedika Onuorah from the penalty spot and Chinonso Lucky Ndumanya in the 27th and 41st minutes.
Udala owed their victory to their impeccable first-half performance because Enyimba Feeders stepped up their game in the second half and could have won the game had they been more decisive in the final third. Enyimba Feeders did manage to pull a goal back through Emmanuel Godwin in the 66th but they were unable to muster a comeback that is now threatening their chances of playoffs’ success. But they are not yet out of the picture.
Udala FC jumped to the second spot with four points from two games and will trade tackles with Goddosky International FC in a local derby on Saturday while Enyimba Feeders must be at their best if they are to return to winning ways against the Zone’s current pacesetters, Adoration FC in another game billed for Saturday at Ngor Okpala.
