Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi kept a clean sheet in his first league game of the season for Kaizer Chiefs in the South Africa Premier League after they got a goalless draw at Marumo Gallants in one of the Week 5 of the topflight games.
Akpeyi who has been in the shadow of experienced South African Goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune since the beginning of the season was given a rare chance by Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Stuart Baxter and the Nigerian did not disappoint ensuring that they got their fifth point of the campaign after five games.
He was previously on the bench in Kaizer Chiefs’ league games with Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy before he got his chance against Marumo Gallants yesterday.
Akpeyi will hope he is considered again for Kaizer Chiefs’ away duel with AmaZulu on Saturday.
