LOC Announces Calendar for 8th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 8th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup has unveiled the calendar for this year’s tournament.

The Chairman of the LOC, Promise Uwaeme, cited the delay as necessary for implementing significant improvements and expressed apologies to the participating teams for the inconvenience caused.

Mr. Uwaeme explained that the committee’s decision to revise the schedule was driven by the need for better preparations, ensuring a successful and memorable event for all involved.

The calendar is as follows:
Press Conference: The tournament will kick off with a Press Conference, scheduled for November 1, 2023, at the Amdo Adora Event Centre in Kaltungo. This event will provide the media and the public with a glimpse of what to expect from this year’s Unity Cup.

Registration Period: Teams interested in participating in the 8th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup can register from November 1 to November 11, 2023.

Qualification and Final Rounds Draws: The draws for the qualification and final rounds are set to take place on November 15, 2023. This will determine the matchups and fixtures for the early stages of the competition.

Opening Ceremony: The official opening ceremony will be held on November 15, 2023. The venue for the opening ceremony will be communicated during the draws.

Qualification Rounds: The qualification rounds will commence on November 18, 2023, and continue until December 9, 2023. Teams will compete fiercely for a chance to advance to the final stages of the tournament.

Final Rounds: The climax of the 8th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup will take place from December 17 to December 29, 2023. This is when the best teams will battle it out for the coveted championship title.

In addition to the football action, the “Beyond Football Campaign Initiative” will play a significant role in this year’s event. This initiative aims to address the issue of drug abuse among youth in various communities through our partnership with the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Gombe State Command by leveraging the popularity of sports, the Unity Cup intends to promote a healthier and more productive lifestyle among the younger generation.
