Several important dignitaries from Rivers State and beyond have confirmed their participation at the Comrade Dennis Osere Unity Cup Tournament which commences tomorrow, December 12th at Onelga LGA of Rivers State.
The tournament which is bankrolled by the Chief Executive Officer, Denco Osere Company Limited is meant to unite the youths and the good people of Onelga LGA and the Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Honourable Boma Iyaye, Go Round owner and former Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, Rivers State, Felix Obuah are among the special guests who are billed to light up the tournament’s opening ceremony tomorrow, December 12th.
Other important dignitaries expected are Onelga LGA Chairman, Honourable Ifeanyi Odili, Rivers State Commissioner for Youth Development, Prince Ohia, former head coach, Yobe Desert Stars and Go Round, Ngozi Elechi among others.
The tournament which starts tomorrow, Saturday, December 12th and ends on the 31st of the same month will see the six communities that make up Onelga LGA presenting a team each to compete in the Comrade Dennis Osere Unity Cup Tournament with the resolve to win mouth-watering prizes.
The six communities that will take part in the tournament are: Omoku, Usomiri and Ndoni who are in Group A while Egbema, Egi and Igburu are the remaining three teams and are paired in Group B.
The opening ceremony of the Comrade Dennis Osere Unity Cup Tourney will hold tomorrow, December 12th at the St. Michael Primary School, Omoku by 3pm with Omoku facing Usomini in the opening fixture.
Irresistible prizes have been earmarked to be won with the winner of the Comrade Dennis Osere Unity Cup Tournament expected to smile home with N300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira) while Runner up and third place teams are to claim N200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) and N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) respectively.
There are also prizes for highest goal scorer of the tournament who is to go home with N10,000 (Ten Thousand Naira) and a pair of boots. The Best Player of the tournament will also be rewarded with N10,000 (Ten Thousand Naira) and a pair of boots while the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament will also receive N10,000 (Ten Thousand Naira) and a goalkeeper glove.
