Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Imo Chapter has expressed its delight at the appointment of one of its members, Martins Ori as the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the former Governor of Imo State, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
Imo SWAN in a congratulatory message through its Chairman, Cosmos Chukwuemeka, the sports journalists in the state thumb up the appointment of the one the Association calls the Encyclopedia of knowledge and assures the former Governor that he won’t lack anything in terms of publicity with Ori as his chief publicist.
Chukwuemeka noted that Ori as an important member of Imo SWAN was the chairman of the Imo SWANECO during the last election held in May this year and that his invaluable knowledge has been an asset to Imo SWAN.
The Imo SWAN chairman enjoins Ori to be forthright and jealously guard the job he has been assigned and he also implores him not to forget his primary constituency- Imo SWAN in the scheme of things as the body would give him all necessary support to flourish in his new position.
Ori, a senior journalist succeeds Chibuike Onyeukwu, who is currently aspiring for the Chairmanship seat of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of the state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Ori comes to the job with a rich experience spanning years of robust journalism practice.
He spent 10 years at The Sun Newspaper working in various capacities namely Assistant Editor, Sports, Assistant Editor, Education and Assistant Editor, Investigation.
Before then, he had worked as South East Bureau Chief Hallmark Newspaper.
Ori transferred his services in 2021 to the News Echo Newspaper where he served as Managing Editor.
He later teamed up with Afam Echi to co-found Oriental Newspaper, a weekly tabloid based in Owerri, Imo State.
