Obizi High School, Ezinihitte Mbaise and Comprehensive Secondary School, Orji are through to the semi-final of the ongoing Ikukuoma Foundation’s Owerri Zone Secondary Schools Football Tournament which is organized Like-Minds Fitness Club, Owerri.
Obizi High School defeated highly rated Government Secondary School, Owerri 1-0 in the quarter final game decided at the practice pitch, Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Wednesday.
Obizi are fast becoming the giant killers of the competition after they also sent packing Holy Ghost College in a marathon penalty shootout that witnessed 22 spot kicks before the winner could emerged.
Also through to the semi-final is Comprehensive Secondary School, Orji who eliminated their counterparts from Ubomiri 4-1 in a rather one sided last eight encounter.
Ezeagbogu Secondary School who drew bye in the last round defeated Best Losers, Mbaise Secondary School, Aboh Mbaise 2-0 in the 3rd Round tie played while Owalla Avuvu Secondary School, Ikeduru edged Saint Patrick Secondary School, Ahiazu Mbaise 4-3 on penalties after the quarter final tie had ended in a 2-2 draw at the end of the regulation time.
In a game that produced three penalties out of the four goals scored at regulation time, Franklin Onyeneke struck twice for Owalla Avuvu Secondary School while Mmesomma Anyanwu and Gideon Iheanyichukwu got Saint Patrick Secondary School goals. Avuvu were more clinical during the spot kicks and they progressed 4-3 to the semi final.
Today, Thursday November 17th, Ezeagbogu Secondary School will be up against Comprehensive Secondary School, Avuvu Owalla in another tie at the practice pitch of the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri by 10am.
The tournament is sponsored by High Chief Summers Nwokie for the tapping of talents at the grassroots with technical support from Chuks Dike led Like Minds Fitness Club, Owerri.
