Ikukuoma Football Club of Owerri has sealed a partnership pact with KF Liria Prizren of Kosovo for the development of young and promising football players who would be given the platform to showcase their talents for possibly oversea deals.
Our Correspondent reports that both the football clubs signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to seal the collaboration, at a meeting in Owerri, on Thursday in the presence of top officials of both clubs and Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO), Chief Operating Officer, Shola Ogunnowo.
Speaking shortly after signing the MoU, Vice President of KF Liria Prizren, Mr Ahmed Arslan, said that collaboration would enable the club assist in the professional growth and development of young Nigerian football talents.
Arslan said that the young footballers, including those already scouted, would be acquired from their respective clubs by Ikukuoma FC before their movement to Eastern Europe for continued development by his club.
He thanked Ikukuoma FC for providing necessary modalities to facilitate the collaboration and pledged continued commitment to the agreement.
“We’re interested in the development of raw talents from Nigeria. We’re happy to work with Ikukuoma FC and we will not disappoint “, he said.
Speaking, Chairman of Ikukuoma FC and President Ikukuoma Sports Development Foundation, High Chief Summers Nwokie, expressed satisfaction with the arrangement and pledged commitment to the MoU.
He said that Ikukuoma FC, in less than its six months of existence was already making waves in Imo and beyond, and expressed optimism that the collaboration will afford the players the requisite exposure for their development.
“We want the sky to be the starting point for our raw talents yet untapped and we firmly believe that the MoU will furnish them with the necessary exposure to aid their growth.
“In less than six months of existence as a club, we’re already progressing to Europe. We are the Mbaise Blues, the sky is blue and the coast is clear “, he enthused.
A high point of the meeting was the signing of documents containing the MoU, by representatives of the two clubs.
