Hoffenheim’s Kevin Akpoguma and Taiwo Awoniyi of Union Berlin were both on the scoresheet as both clubs settled for an exciting 2-2 draw at PreZero Arena.
Both teams went into the game at the back of an away win and home draw with Hoffenheim thrashing Augsburg 4-0 while Union Berlin were held to a 1-1 draw by Bayer Leverkusen.
It was the visitors that drew the first blood in the 10th minute through Niko Giesselmann but Akpoguma restored parity for the hosts four minutes later.
Jacob Bruun Larsen put Hoffenheim in the ascendancy in the 30th minute to ensure the home team were 2-1 up at halftime but Union Berlin equalised two minutes after the break through Awoniyi who made it four goals in his club’s last three games in all competitions.
In Scotland, Joe Aribo netted once in Rangers 4-2 away win at Ross County. The win restored the Hoops to the fifth spot with six points from three games.
