Governor Hope Uzodinma’s Victory Cup competition has entered the quarter final stage with Njaba up against Oru East on Tuesday February 6th in the first last eight fixtures billed for the Old Stadium, Tetlow Road, Owerri.
A tournament sponsored by the Imo Sports Commission Boss, Prince Eleazer Ogbonna to celebrate the electoral victory of the incumbent Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma who was inaugurated for a second term in office recently after massively winning in all the 27 Local Government Areas of the state on November 11th, 2023.
The tournament started on January 27th with a novelty fixture between the Local Government Area of the Imo Governor, Oru East and that of his Deputy, Mbaitoli. The game ended in a 1-1 draw at the main bowl of the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
The tournament has now advanced to the quarter final with six teams making it thus far. They are Njaba, Oru East, Owerri Municipal, Owerri West, Ahiazu Mbaise and Okigwe Local Government Areas.
According to the organisers, Njaba and Oru East will be involved in the first quarter final on Tuesday at the Old Stadium, Tetlow Road, Owerri while it will be the turn of Owerri Municipal and Owerri West to take to the pitch at the same venue by 3pm on Wednesday.
The third quarter final tie holds between Ahiazu Mbaise and Okigwe on Thursday.
The organisers hinted that the most outstanding team of the three that are eliminated in the quarter final stage will have the privilege of picking the last semi final slot as determined by the competition’s Technical Committee.
The semi final games hold on Saturday and Sunday this weekend while the grand finale is slated for February 14th.

*Best Loser of the 3 Games Will Join Winners for Semi Final.
*All games enter penalty shoot out after 90mins if it ends in a draw.
