The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has on Monday 1 February announced the death of one of its former head, Group Captain John Obakpolor.
Sports Village Square recalls that the late Air Force officer was the chairman of the then Nigeria Football Association (NFA) from 1984 to 1987. He was the 24th helmsman of the football body since its inception in August 1933.
Through its official and verified twitter handle, the NFF wrote: “We regret to announce the passing on of one-time Chairman of the then Nigeria Football Association, Group Captain John Obapolor (Rtd). May his soul rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.”
