It was a game of many scoring chances for the visitors, FK Neftchi, but none were converted which led to a goalless draw between them and bottom-placed Sabayil in one of the matches of the Azerbaijan Premier League played at the AOSC Arena on Sunday.
Haiti international Donald Guerrier, who played 90 minutes for Neftchi in the game stressed that it was not the result they wanted and it was points lost for his team.
“I think we lost two points because we could win the game. In front of the goal we did not have 100 per cent concentration, especially me,” Guerrier told dasportstainment247.com’s Johnpaul Nnamdi in a chat after the game.
“I think we have to work hard in order to make it up in the next game.”
With this result, Neftchi dropped to the third position on the league table with 22 points from 13 matches and levelled on points with second-placed Keshla FK.
However, Guerrier said that they must quickly forget about the disappointing draw and think of their next game with Sabah on Sunday in another away fixture before the winter break.
Guerrier who joined Neftchi this season from Champions Qarabag is also positive that his new team can overtake Qarabag who have been dominating the Azerbaijan Premier League.
“I think with hard work we can do it. The championship is still on and we still have more games coming in the next round so we have to keep fighting and keep working hard to get the maximum points we can get. And why not? We can be champions,” he added.
