Urges Government at all levels to Increase Investment in the Youthful Population
Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare has again affirmed the importance of youth development to national planning and development.
The Youth Minister made the re-affirmation during a live chat session aired on Omoluabi 87.7 FM, at Mokola Hill Ibadan Oyo State Nigeria, 3rd February 2023.
Speaking on the live Radio Session, the Sports Minister spoke on various issues, ranging from sports, youth development, politics, and the forthcoming 2023 elections.
Chief Sunday Dare said “as the age of youth ranges from 15 to 35, in the Nigerian context, efforts are on, trying to stretch it to 40 years, putting into consideration some limitations the range is setting against the potentials and privileges meant for the Nigerian youths, because this nation needs the youthful population and their prowess, in all the sectors.
Infact, this is the time for Nigerian youths to decide the course of this nation, this is the time for elections, get out of the social media, get your PVCs. If you fail to participate, you lose the legitimacy of criticising those elected, get your PVC go out and vote.
The problems of participation and contesting elections have been solved by my principal President Muhammadu Buhari, and to this effect, over 128 youths have benefited from the ‘not too young to run’ bill. The effect of the youths is more critical in the society and across all sectors of human endeavour, any country that neglects the development of the youths, imperils the nation. I strongly believe in the abilities and potentials of the youths, they are all blessings to this nation, over 88 million in population, so the government must increase investments in the youths, and they must also participate actively in politics”.
On politics, the Agbaakin of Ogbomosoland said, “politics is in the air, this is February 2023, we’ll be voting, we are in Democracy, and it is a matter of choice, everyone can decide who to vote; for me Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is my Presidential candidate to vote for.
We have about 22 days, my party is the ruling party, as a technocrats, as a politician, I’m one of the founding member of APC, I’m a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by God’s grace, thanks to President Muhammadu Buhari.
There are chances for APC in Oyo State, in all the states of the Federation. Oyo State has been firmly in the hands of the progressives. Our Governorship candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin is APC’s candidate in Oyo State, a former Senate Majority Leader, three term Senator, and he will pull his crowd when the time comes.
For the Presidential elections, Asiwaju is a Nigerian, he is our own, I’ve known him for about 27 years, as his Chief of Staff, Media Adviser, I spend about 21 hours with him every day, I have interviewed him on so many occassions and lingering issues, including all allegations been rumoured against him, experientially, I can boldly say all these allegations are false”, and reacting to a caller, the Minister said “he who alleges must prove; everyone is free to approach the law court, to prove whatever allegations been put up against Asiwaju”.
On the upcoming Presidential rally in Oyo State, the choice of Mapo Hall as the venue is historic, as the Centre for Southwest political articulation, by extension the nation at large, it is a political shrine, a melting point, just like Ahmadu Bello house in Kaduna, and we expect the entire Ibadan and Oyo State to come out and listen to what our Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has to tell us, by 7th February 2023″.
On the current scarcity of Naira notes, he assured Nigerians that “the President has seen the pains of Nigerians, he has promised to make ammendments in the next 7 days, and as a Federal Minister, I apologise to the Nigerian masses, for the unintended effects of the new policy”.
Speaking on Sports development, he said “the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has achieved a lot, across the Federation, and in Oyo State, a national team came to Ibadan to camp and play matches, that was after 30 years ago, in another 2 weeks, another national team will be here; Awolowo Stadium, is currently undergoing rehabilitation, and if the application goes through, we’ll have to return the stadium to Oyo State Government, that is very laudable. Also, Oyo State is on standby to host National Sports Festival, coming second after Ogun State on the bidding list”, the Sarkin Wasanni of Hausaland concluded.
