President of Authentic Nigeria football and Allied Supporters club,Abayomi Ogunjimi has called for support for the interim technical crew of Super Eagles headed by Austin Eguavoen.
Abayomi, while talking to journalists in Lagos said this is the time when everybody must rally round the technical crew and Super Eagles no matter what we feel about the recent decision taken by the football body.
‘There is no point crying over a split milk,rather we should give NFF the needed support at this critical time and the interim technical crew because it is not about them but about the country’
‘Football in Nigeria is the opium of the masses and every Super Eagles fan wants the team to succeed or surpass their expectations at the tournament’
‘so it is pertinent that we put aside our differences and focus on giving the team and the technical crew support,before and during the nations cup holding in Cameroon’.
Nigeria football federation has sacked Gernot Rohr as the Super Eagles head coach while appointing Eguavoen as technical adviser though on interim but will work with Salisu Yusuf (Chief Coach); Paul Aigbogun (Assistant Coach); Joseph Yobo (Assistant Coach); Dr Terry Eguaoje (Assistant Coach) and Aloysius Agu (Goalkeeper Trainer).
Former Nigeria captains Augustine ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu and Garba Lawal have been appointed to provide technical and ambassadorial support for the crew.
