After watching them massacre little known FC Technobat of Jalingo 8-0 in an Aiteo Cup first round tie, General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Rasheed Balogun, has charged his players to maintain the momentum in subsequent matches of the competition.
The Oluyole Warriors proved too much for the Taraba State representatives, scoring four goals in each half to cruise to an easy win, a development which the club’s boss applauded.
Addressing the players and their officials before they departed Minna, the Niger State capital on Monday morning, Balogun, who commmended the team for putting up a good performance in the game played at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, charged them to shift focus to the next stage of the Aiteo Cup.
“I believe you enjoyed the game yesterday (Sunday). After scoring four goals in the first half, you discovered that the second half was a bit easy. That is how it should be, I know some of you got knocked during the game.
“Now that we have scaled through this round, let’s shift focus to the next round against Gombe United and as much as I know, Gombe United are equally a good side.
“In the league (NNL), they are leading their group just as we are leading in our own group, so you know it is going be a tough contest but I strongly believe in your ability to defeat any team, I have never doubted you”, said Balogun
Concluding his address, the astute football administrator said. ” I want you to add more seriousness to this competition. It is a trophy that we must aim to lift and I am sure you know what is attached to winning the Cup. So you must not relent as we march on”.
