Rivers United manager, Stanley Eguma has regained his freedom from his abductors about three days after he was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen along Enugu/Port Harcourt road.
The Pride of Rivers in a short press release made available to www.dasportstainment247.com confirmed the development but details of his release and how it happened are still being kept under wraps.
Gun bearing men waylaid the official car of Eguma on the Enugu/Port Harcourt road axis on Tuesday evening when Rivers United were on their way back from Gombe where they had honoured a Week 27 Nigerian topflight tie against Adamawa United which they lost 2-0.
The Nigerian Police had confirmed the report of his kidnap and they vowed to unravel and bust the den of the kidnappers of the Rivers United manager.
“We’re grateful to God for His mercy.
“Our Technical Manager Stanley Eguma has been released by his abductors.
“Our God is gracious,” the press release from the club signed by the General Manager, Okey Kpalukwu read.
Police is yet to make an official statement on his release while other details of his freedom are still being kept away as at press time.
Rivers United will face Go Round today in the final of the Rivers State FA Cup at the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt while the team is at home to Katsina United on Sunday in a Week 28 NPFL tie.
