NWF VP, Iquaibom, Honoured with Distinguished International Lifetime Achievement Award in London
Vice President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF), Lawrence Iquaibom, has been decorated with the Distinguished International Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 EPRA Leadership and Entrepreneurial Awards ceremony, held on Friday, September 26, at the prestigious Regency Banqueting Suite in Tottenham, London, England.
Iquaibom, a former Director of Sports in Akwa Ibom State, was honoured for his long-standing contributions to sports administration and development, both within Nigeria and on the global stage.
The EPRA Awards are renowned for celebrating outstanding leaders and entrepreneurs who have displayed exemplary leadership, integrity, and a commitment to societal advancement. According to the organizers, the event serves as a platform to recognize personalities who have impacted their communities, nations, and the world at large through innovation, leadership, and selfless service.
This year’s award ceremony featured distinguished personalities from various fields. Among them were:
Lord John Bird MBE, recognised for Outstanding Leadership in Social Enterprise
Baroness Sandy Verma, honoured for Excellence in Public Service and Governance
Dr. Maria Sanchez, recipient of the Global Humanitarian Impact Award
Mr. Adewale Johnson, awarded for Entrepreneurial Innovation in Business Development
Speaking after receiving the award, Iquaibom dedicated the honour to Nigeria’s sports community and reaffirmed his commitment to the growth of weightlifting and the nurturing of future champions.
Beyond the London recognition, Iquaibom is set for key international engagements in the coming days. He will attend the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Coaching and Research Committee meeting on September 29 in Forde, Norway.
He has also been appointed to serve as one of the International Technical Officials at the 2025 IWF World Championships scheduled for October 2–11 in Forde, Norway.
