7th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup: Hostilities set to continue at Kaltungo Centre

The Local Organising Committee of the 7th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup has announced the resumption of hostilities at the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo Stadium, Kaltungo after a fruitful meeting with Kaltungo Local Government Area Executives following the suspension of the competition in the facility last weekend.

In a meeting that was facilitated by the Gombe State Football Association Chairman, Mr Yakubu Sarma, and attended by the LGA executives and the competition’s LOC agreed that the competition resumes at the stadium after successful deliberations.

The meeting had in attendance the Kaltungo LGA Executive Chairman Alh. Farouk Aliyu Umar Kabo, Local Government Sports Officer Mr Yakubu Audu, Representative of the Adamu Yola Ture Foundation, Mr Iliya Mallory and the LOC Chairman, Mr Promise Uwaeme.

After the meeting, the LOC Chairman, Mr Uwaeme thanked the FA Chairman for mediating the meeting as well the LGA Executive Chairman for honouring the meeting.

“We want to thank the Gombe State FA Chairman, Mr Sarma for once again doing what he knows how to do best and for also taking his time to mediate this meeting as well as the Kaltungo LGA Executive Chairman Alh. Kabo for finding time to attend the meeting. Both parties had a common understanding and we are happy that the Kaltungo LGA Qualification Round will resume soon,” Mr Uwaeme said.

Mr Uwaeme expressed happiness with the fact that football finally won. “Yes, there were actions and inactions but the most important thing right now is that Football is the winner.”

“We will complete the repair works at the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo Stadium, Kaltungo and roll out the adjusted fixtures, hopefully, actions will resume before the week runs out”. He added.

Fixtures and dates of games for other LGAs have since been released with Balanga Centre kicking off on the 16th November at the Balanga Township Stadium, Talasse; Billiri Centre on the 14th November at the College of Education Sports Complex, Billiri while Shongom will kick-start on the 13th at the Community Secondary School, Lalaipido.

The Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup is an annual competition competed for by the Local Government Areas that make up Gombe South and It has been used to foster friendship and peaceful co-existence among the people of the area with Adamu Yola Ture Foundation as sponsors.
