6th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup: Balanga United tackle Shembe United; All-Stars face Gwandun Academy as tourney reaches second round

The stage is set for the second round of the 6th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup with the defending champions, Balanga United, two-time champions, All-Stars, and giant-killers, Golkos United among the remaining 16 teams.

The first round matches were concluded last weekend and the second-round games will begin on Friday 17th December with Ture United up against OSKA FC. Bare City were the 2020 edition runners up but they were eliminated in the group stage by ambitious debutants, Golkos United who will face Kulishin United in the next second round tie slated for December 17th also.

Kaltungo Boys were reinstated back into the tournament after they won a board room protest against Tal United who allegedly used an ineligible player in their group games. They will trade tackles with Kalkulum United.

Samba Boys have a date with Dinge Flying Bees on December 18th while the reigning champions, Balanga United will slug it out with Shembe United on December 19th.

Two times champions, All Stars will continue their search for the third title with a Round of 16 fixture with Gwandun Academy on December 20th while Pero Boys will slug it out with Pokwangli United a day earlier.

The second round matches will be concluded on December 20th while quarter final games are fixed for December 22nd and 23rd. The grand finale comes up on December 29th.

The tournament which kicked off in 2016 had 75 teams taken part in the current edition with Balanga United as the defending champions after they defeated Bare City in the 2020 final. All-Stars who won the tournament in 2017 and 2019 came third last year.
