Head coach, Rovers FC of Calabar, Samson David Unuanel has challenged his players to start the season with a bang as soon as the 2023 Nigeria National League season resumes formally next weekend.
Rovers FC have three home games out of five in the first round including successive home games against Henserd FC of Yenagoa and Go Round on March 18th and 25th respectively in their Southern Conference Group B1 and Unuanel who had previously coached Kwara United, Kano Pillars and the Super Falcons reminded his players that it is important they record victory in both home games to put them in good stead.
“The season has already kicked off with the star game in our group between FC One Rocket and Warri Wolves which the home team won,” Unuanel who also worked with Enyimba previously told our correspondent.
“We will host Henserd of Bayelsa in our first game before our fans and also face Go Round the following weekend. We know we are in a tough group and will like to start the season very well. With three home games in the first round alone, we must utilise the chance we have now knowing that home games would reduce in the second stanza.
“We have had a good pre-season activities and we are praying to have a good season. The management and the government of Cross River State are in one page with the resolve to ensure that Rovers do well in the league this season.”
Unuanel asserted that his young boys would give their foes in Group B1 of the Southern Conference a good run for their money in their determined zeal to give a good account of themselves.
Rovers will slug it out with FC One Rocket in Eket; Warri Wolves in another home game before ending the first stanza with a road trip to Eket again as guests of Vandrezzer FC.
