Sokoto, Nigeria Customs, Equity of Kebbi, UCEM were among the major winners in the men’s category at the first day of hostilities of the 2022 President’s Beach Volleyball Cup ongoing in Kaduna.
Sokoto defeated GG Spikers 2-1 in a nail biting game to record their first win in the men’s cadre while Nigeria Customs thrashed NSCDC 2-0 (21-13, 21-10) in another game.
Nigeria Correctional Service were thrashed 2-0 by OmiGuard 21-8, 21-16 in a one-sided affair while Equity of Kebbi beat Gbemisi 2-0 (21-0), 21-0) in a game Gbemisi were walked over after they failed to show up.
In the women’s category Anister began their campaign on a winning note after spanking Nigeria Correctional Service 2-0 (21-14, 21-16) while Nigeria Customs made it double victory in both categories after another 2-0 whiplash of NSCDC 2-0 (21-9, 21-14).
Nigeria Immigration suffered a surprise 2-0 loss to Ada II while host Kada Emeralds made light work of both FCT and Nigeria Correctional Service to record two famous wins on the opening day.
