With a round of games more to the halfway mark, theTsenba wummen Football League season for the Under 14 and 16 Week 8 matches were decided last weekend with interesting results at four centres in the Jos metropolis.

Relentless Football Academy braved the odds to grab a draw against Mees Palace Football Academy while Highland Stars, Elspuron FA all moved up the league table. There was a shock defeat for Jr. Sporting Boys in the Under 14.

For the first time this season, the leadership of the Under 16 changed hands with St. Monica leapfrogging the reigning champions, Mees Palace FA whose game with Jeddy Academy was postponed. City Rollers surprised Jazzy Stars to earn first win of the season while FC Izam, Rahbam FA, Tin City and Samba Boys turned heads too with important wins.

Under 14 WRAP

The star match of the weekend was the clash between the top two: Mees Palace FA who have been scoring goals for fun and second placed, Relentless FA who possessed the best defence having not conceded a goal before the encounter. It was no victor, no vanquish as both teams settled for a 1-1 draw.

It was Relentless FA that roared first with the opening goal from Sunday Jeremiah in the 36th minute but the reigning champions came back strongly and equalised through Destiny Lar four minutes later to become the first team to score against the defensive disciplined side. It was Mees Palace’s 50th goal of the season.

Due to the point shared, Mees Palace kept their three points advantage at the top over Relentless FA. They have 22 points from eight games while the latter with a game at hand have 19 points.

Multiple Waves stormed to the eighth position on the table with 13 points after they mauled fifth placed Jr. Sporting Boys 3-1 who remained on 16 points. Waves netted first through Goodluck Samson in the 10th minute while Smile Emmanuel doubled the lead in the 20th minute. Friday Longji’s 31st minute goal threatened a fightback from Jr. Sporting but that thought was extinguished by Smile Emmanuel who bagged his second goal and Waves’ third in the 33rd minute.
In some of the remaining results, Highland Stars moved to third spot but level on the same 19 points with second placed Relentless FA after they pipped Ceemonie SA 1-0. Jazzy Stars drew 1-1 with Super Stars; Elspuron dazed Invaders FC 4-1 while SJC Lions powered to their first win of the season with a lone goal victory over Vet Glory.

Under 16 WRAP

For the first time in recent times, St. Monica have displaced the reigning league winners, Mees Palace FA at the top of the table after they thrashed Flying Shooters 3-0 to shoot to 19 points from seven games. Mees Palace are now second with 18 points but with two games at hand including a rescheduled tie with the current pacesetters, St. Monica tomorrow, Wednesday by 4.30 pm. This may change the order of the table again and shall be updated immediately the game is completed.

City Rollers earned their first win of the season after they subdued highly rated, Jazzy Stars 2-1 in a keenly contested tie. Abdul Muhammed grabbed the opener in the third minute for City Rollers while Ibrahim Abdullahi rolled home the second in the 27th minute. Junior Joseph’s 59th minute goal for Jazzy Stars was too little too late to muster a comeback. Rollers are 19th on the log with four points as a result of the shock win but Jazzy Stars are in the 11th spot with 11 points.

FC Izam defeated CF Bwin 3-0 to jump to the third position with 18 points from eight games while there were wins too for Rahbam, Tin City, and Samba Boys who are fourth, fifth and sixth with 18, 17, and 15 points respectively.
