LMC gives partial nod to Dan Anyiam Stadium, six others to host NPFL matches

Www.dasportstainment247.com can report that Heartland FC’s Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri and Plateau United’s New Jos Stadium are among the seven Nigeria Professional Football League match venues that have received provisional clearance to host topflight matches in the 2020-21 season expected to kick off this weekend.

It was after the League Management Company (LMC) expressed partial satisfaction with the extent of work carried out in the mentioned stadiums to bring them up to the required standard to host top-flight games.

The LMC in a circular sent to all NPFL clubs on Wednesday and titled:-‘Approved Stadia for the 2020-21 NPFL Season Temporary Approval’, the league organiser through its Chief Operating Officer(COO), Salihu Abubakar said that the clubs were given temparary approval to make use of tnheir home ground with the proviso that their various plans for major works and maintenance will be a continuous process.

The circular written to the NPFL clubs and made available to www.dasportstainment247.com stated: “We gladly notice the amount of work carried out in some stadia to bring them up to the standard required for the NPFL and the various plans going forward for major works and maintenance.

“Consequently on the above, the following stadia are hereby granted provisional approval to host NPFL matches:

  1. Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium, Nnewi – FCIU
  2. Agege Township Stadium, Lagos- (MFM)
  3. Akure Township Stadium, Akure – (Sunshine Stars)
  4. Lafia Township Stadium- Nasarawa United
  5. New Jos Stadium, Jos – Plateau United
  6. Ozoro Polytechnic Stadium, Delta -Warri Wolves
  7. Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri- Heartland FC

The LMC pointed out that all the 20 clubs in the NPFL must continue to impress it their sponsors to continue to work on their stadiums’ facilities to ensure they continue to meet the required standards.

“We will continuously monitor all stadia to ensure that works are delivered as promised and on time. But most importantly, standards are maintained throughout the season,” the circular concluded.

This brings to 20 the number of the approved NPFL match venues for the season ahead of the season’s opener on Sunday.
