Nigeria Under 23 star, David Okereke has asserted that he and his Club Brugge teammates won’t get carried away with the prospect of playing against one of the best teams in Europe when they face Real Madrid on Wednesday in the Uefa Champions League.

Club Brugge played a goalless draw against Galatasaray of Turkey in the first game of the lucrative club competition two weeks ago and Okereke revealed that they are going to Madrid with the conviction that they could shock the 13 times champions at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Okereke along with his Nigerian compatriot, Emmanuel Dennis demolished KV Mechelen 5-0 on Saturday to return to the top of the Belgian League and the striker affirmed to Dasportstainment247.com that the massive win has put them in the right stead ahead of the crucial midweek tie in Madrid.

“We showed another great team spirit in our win over KV Mechelen and we just have to sustain the same tempo ahead of our game on Wednesday against Real Madrid,” Okereke told Dasportstainment247.com.

“We are only going to concentrate on our own game at the Santiago Bernabeu. We are back to the top of the league table in the Belgian League. We don’t look at the league table actually.

“We just strive to win every game as much as possible even though it is not easy. We go for every game as if our lives depend on it. We try to win every game.”

The attacker opined that he was thrilled to end his goal drought with two goals in a cup game last midweek and that whether he scores or not he is just content with helping his team achieve success.

“I can’t say anything much about it because “It is part of the game to either score or contribute towards team success. It is not every time that a striker is opportune to score but the striker won’t allow that to weigh him down,” he continued.

“I felt a little bit of relief with the two goals I scored in the Cup game at the midweek. I was happy to have scored again. I was unable to score against Mechelen but I was happy that we won. I am just staying positive trying to continue working hard.

“It is every player’s dream to play in a stadium like that and playing against Real Madrid who are one of the best teams in Europe is a great joy but I won’t let that get into my head because we have to go there not as a supporter but as a team.”
