Chairman of Enyimba International, Chief Felix Anyansi Agwu has dedicated the club’s 1-0 victory over South Africa’s Orlando Pirates to Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu whom he opined made the victory possible with his continuous support.

Anyansi who is still basking in the euphoria of the victory that has seen the club reached the quarter-finals of the tournament for said the governor stopped at nothing to ensure Enyimba came out victorious.

Enyimba’s Cyril Olisema slammed home the only goal of the game in the 95th minute after a good pass from the left flank of the Orlando Pirates’ goal area by Super Eagles’ Anayo Iwuala and the win catapulted the People’s Elephant to the top of Group A with nine points from possible 18 having lost all their three away matches.

Speaking with journalists in Aba after the game Anyansi stated: “I thank everyone that has been supporting this team and also our players, the coaches and more especially our Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu whom I am dedicating this victory today,” Anyansi told journalists in an interview monitored by www.dasportstainment247.com.

“Because when he spoke to me 10 minutes before kick off. Normally when he calls like that he will be okay and even motivate the team with Money but after briefing him, he said he wanted to pray for the team and he did so over the phone and I was touched.

“He was very confident that we were going to win and that he believes in what we are doing.”
